In  WAYA, Positive Coaching is a core philosophy. We believe that kids best develop as players when they receive positive encouragement and mentoring. Every WAYA coach is a volunteer. Come share the joy of each sport with your own child and the other members of the WAYA family of players and volunteers. 

To volunteer as a Coach or an Assistant Coach, you must complete the following items

1. Register as a coach through sportsengine for WAYA for the current or upcoming season for both new and returning coaches

2. Pass the background check (valid for one year) and wait for Board approval

We also recommend doing the following before the start of the season 

1. Appoint your team's volunteer positions
2. Become familiar with team rules 
3. Become familiar with scorebook
4. Research age-appropriate drills and practices
5. Become familiar with WAYA game sportsmanship violations and how to avoid them
