PARENT/GUARDIAN PARTICIPATION

The WAYA is a volunteer based organization and therefore, as a WAYA Member, family members of players will be required to help and volunteer in any way possible.

Each family with a participant in Football, T-ball, Baseball and/or Softball is asked to support the members of our association through volunteer shifts.  Football families will be required 1 shift per player. T-ball families will be required 1 shift per player. 8U, 10U, 12U and 14U families will be required 2 shifts per player. There is a family max of 4 required shifts for the membership year (June 1 - July 31). Anyone who is willing and able to pick up additional shifts is greatly appreciated!  Must be 12 years old or older to earn credit for working a shift.

Failure to fulfill the required shifts will result in a $50 fee per shift unfulfilled throughout the WAYA Membership year (July 1 - June 30).  We understand this requirement may not be ideal for all family's situations.  In those cases, we encourage you to reach out to us via email, we are happy to help!

All coaches, including assistant volunteers, will be subject to a background check before they will be allowed to coach a WAYA team.  Please note: In order for your player to receive credit for a family member assisting a Head Coach, a volunteer form must be completed and approved by the board prior to the first regular season game.

Examples of work that meets this requirement include:
  • Concession stand workers
  • Head Coaching
  • Assistant Coaching
  • Serving on the Board
  • Opening weekend activities (Pigeon Falls Brat Feed Day)
  • Uniform handouts
  • Cleaning concession stands prior to the season start
  • Cleaning concession stands at season end
  • Fundraiser Distribution Day
  • Being a Tournament Director
  • Working a tournament (50/50 raffles, concessions, field prep, etc)
  • Umpires
  • Team Parent Rep (Responsible for concession deposits & more)
  • Field Prep
  • Beef & Dairy Days Gate Workers
  • Other jobs/activities approved by the board
In summary, WAYA cannot operate without your help.  We pride ourselves in having the ability and the resources to provide positive athletic opportunities to our youth and their families!
Your time and contributions to our youth athletes are greatly appreciated!
